Yay! Football season is finally here! I have to be honest, I am definitely more excited about all the fall themed cocktails and snacks that go along with football season! For the Bears opening game, I tested out a moonshine cocktail and it did not disappoint!
Let me tell you, this drink is so yummy and it seriously tastes like FALL! I know you all know what I mean. Overall, it is extremely easy to make, though, I will say the only part that is time consuming is making the "cinnamon simple syrup"
I promise you guys that you will be drinking this cocktail throughout the whole fall season because it is that good! I found this great little recipe on thelittlepicurean.com
-This recipe makes enough for 2 cocktails
1/2 cup of apple pie moonshine
1/2 cup of apple juice
1/4 cup of "cinnamon simple syrup"
-cinnamon simple syrup:
-1 cup of water
-1 cup of granulated sugar
-2 cinnamon sticks
Half of lemon for fresh squeezed lemon juice
Apple slices and cinnamon sticks to garnish
Combine apple pie moonshine, apple juice, cinnamon simple syrup and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with about 2/3 of ice. Shake it up for about 10 seconds. Strain your cocktail into your glass with fresh ice and garnish that baby up with apples and cinnamon sticks!
CINNAMON SIMPLE SYRUP:
In a medium sauce pot, add water, sugar and cinnamon sticks and set over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil and then remove heat. Cover the pot and let your mixture sit for 30 minutes. Strain your cinnamon sticks out and allow your syrup to cool to room temperature. If you are not using your syrup at this time, transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge until ready to use.
-The syrup will stay good for two weeks
